Person
Last week I had an interview for a fantastic job at a firm that would have to be in the top 3 of my list of potential employers. What was even better was that I was head hunted for it! I got _the_ phone call from the State Manager today but it was to bring bad news, not good, that I had come very close but not been successful.... in my misery I wrote this to cheer myself up:
person
person that jumped out of a plane
that applied for med school, sat the exam and did fucking well
that takes life by the balls and goes for it
do not be sad
there are no triumphs in life without downfalls
no ups without downs
love that you are unhappy only because you went for it and were not succesful
love that you are only sad because _YOU WENT FOR IT_
better to be sad about trying and failing than being sad about not trying at all

that takes life by the balls and goes for it
do not be sad

Awe or Eww?
Is it just me, or have song lyrics regressed to an all time low in the last 6 months? When I heard Snoops - Coma song awhile ago I thought hmm yep they're scraping the barrel but then yesterday I heard this Jordon Sparks song on the radio with the catch phrase of the chorus being - now wait for it....... "Just like a tattoo, I'll always have you."
Everyone say awww.... or ewww?!
Pity - because apart from the bad chorus lyrics it's a great song!

One Hit Wonder
If you watched the ABC's new show, 'The Gruen Transfer' last Thursday you would've seen 'The Pitch' segment - will post the video of it after this. The two advertising firms who were up against each other were given the task of selling celibacy. Both pitches were great but Lowe's was defintley the funniest/more believable.
The following night I hit the town after some work drinks and ran into 'Mr Beard' - a friend of one of my colleagues who has, on a previous occasion, managed to slide into first base. After not returning the one and only sms I sent him suggesting a follow up coffee I had written him off as just another smooze artist.
So, needless to say, it was funny to run into him again with mutual friends around. After a few more beverages and dancing to tasteless 90's dance music I could see where the night was most likely heading - and I thought why not?! He's a guaranteed one night stand only so there's no baggage or weirdness about follow up. He was a bit of a looker and - as an added bonus, it would be a great way to break the dry spell.
What could be better!?
Well yes.... famous last words that.
As per the catch phrase from Lowe's pitch - "Sex... it's always better in your head."

Ducks in a Row
If getting all your ducks in a perfect row isn't what life is about then what is it?
If you spend all your time getting your ducks in a row then will you end up regretting everything you missed while trying to organise said ducks?
But then if you aren't supposed to be striving for arrayed ducks then what should you be striving for?
First thing that popped into my mind is happiness.
So should we be striving for happiness, not highly perfected and arrayed lives where are our floors are sparkling clean and our dinners are organised 2 weeks in advance?
I know I put off a lot of things because I want to get x, y and z done perfectly first before I even think of a, b or c. But then a lot of things in my life end up being on hold while many other things are waiting to be done. How does one drop the 'perfect act'. I know I also stress some ppl out with it as well. Strange thing is that I've been able to get past/over it at work but not in my personal life - how does that work?!
The more I think about it the more I realise that I've done this loop before - I've had the 'perfect' job, the 'perfect' car and the 'perfect' apartment but then I was probably the most depressed I ever have been at that time. That said I've come a long long way since then.
I think finding what makes you happy and sticking to it is the key. What will make me happy in the short term is getting a new job. What will make me happy in the long term is getting a new career. I'm doing these both - so I'm on the right path. Life just throws so many curve balls though, sometimes it can feel impossible to get back on the path again - especially without guilt tripping about time lost or shoulda-coulda-wouldas. That said, on my days with sunnier outlooks I've come to the conclusions that although the curve balls in life can be real stinkers, they are what make life worth living. If life throws you a curve ball, expect ten more.
